Error Exponents for a Direct Detection Optical Channel
نویسنده
چکیده
Error exponent bounds for a noise free optical channel using a direct detection receiver are computed for the cases of Pulse Position Modulation (PPM) and for the basic channel with binary output and average intensity constraint. Some consequences are derived regarding the behavior of the interleaving scheme suggested by Massey, the optimality of the PPM format and the significance of the Ro parameter.

Average and reliability error exponents in low-density parity-check codes
We present a theoretical method for a direct evaluation of the average and reliability error exponents in low-density parity-check error-correcting codes using methods of statistical physics. Results for the binary symmetric channel (BSC) are presented for codes of both finite and infinite connectivity.

This paper proposes an analytical model for evaluating the performance of dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) for all optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (AO-OFDM) optical wireless channel. The investigated performance for proposed system is evaluated for the parameters bit error rate (BER) and Q factor .The constellation diagrams, and bit error rate (BER) of the recei...
متن کاملMorphological Exudate Detection in Retinal Images using PCA-based Optic Disc Removal
Diabetic retinopathy lesion detection such as exudate in fundus image of retina can lead to early diagnosis of the disease. Retinal image includes dark areas such as main blood vessels and retinal tissue and also bright areas such as optic disk, optical fibers and lesions e.g. exudate. In this paper, a multistage algorithm for the detection of exudate in foreground is proposed. The algorithm se...
متن کاملLMS Electrical Filters to Reduce Intersymbol Interference in Direct Detection Optical Systems
Intersymbol interference in direct detection optical systems can limit the channel spacing in frequency division multiplexing systems, and limit data rates and transmission distances in long distance transmission systems. We present minimum mean-square-error electrical filters to compensate for optical intersymbol interference. The performance of these filters is compared with a matched filter ...
متن کاملIRWIN AND JOAN JACOBS CENTER FOR COMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES Channel Detection in Coded Communication
We consider the problem of block-coded communication, where in each block, the channel law belongs to one of two disjoint sets. The decoder is aimed to decode only messages that have undergone a channel from one of the sets, and thus has to detect the set which contains the prevailing channel. We begin with the simplified case where each of the sets is a singleton. For any given code, we derive...
